Unique Challenges Earthwork / Site Grading It can be said for most land development projects that “so goes the earthwork…so goes the rest of the project”. A bad earthwork and site grading experience can plague an otherwise great project throughout construction and often, unfortunately, for the life of the development itself. At Dunaway Associates, we consciously share our senior designer knowledge and technologies company-wide on this, the initial and perhaps most important design parameter of the project. We carefully analyze the balancing of the earthwork to minimize material import and export, the site grading to avoid localized flooding and drainage problems and, with the sub-consulting geotechnical expert, we help analyze the ability of the existing material to structurally support the planned improvements.
