Senior Environmental Scientist/Planner—Hazardous Materials, Environmental Site Assessments

Salary: Commensurate with experience and responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for providing project management of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments as well as other assignments related to hazardous materials management. Must have a broad range of environmental experience and has a proven track record in coordination with clients, regulatory agencies, and team members. Will need to have held a similar position in a firm and have experience with a growing department. Excellent communications, business development, and general management skills are required. Experience overseeing and coordinating field activities, subcontracted services (laboratories and drilling), technical report writing, Phase I ESA, Phase II ESA and remedial investigations. Solid, up to date, working knowledge of Texas and national environmental regulations will be required. Have experience with proposal writing.

• Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of multiple projects assigned to him/her by combining overall technical and project management accountability. The employee ensures the client shall receive all services described in the contract and that cost of the project shall be within established budgets. Instrumental in establishing and ensuring QA/QC program is followed and is an integral component of the process.
• Manages projects (or portions thereof) as outlined in Firm’s Project Manager’s Manual. Actively participates in all phases of marketing, sales, and business development efforts. Assigns duties to project team members, answers their questions, monitors their progress, and checks completed project work for accuracy. Provides technical expertise or advice in one or more specialty areas. Prepares complex reports, studies, and correspondence. Leads and facilitates public meetings.

• Assist in establishing project teams. Be an active member of a project team when required. Provide counsel, advice, and peer review to ensure the technical appropriateness and accuracy of field work, including subcontractor work, and all documents and reports.
• Assist as needed to develop and implement the client-focused educational programming that will be of value to existing and prospective clients and will contribute to achieving the company’s goals.
• Use established communication channels and vehicles to update regulatory changes and their implications on current and future projects. Create the required internal document/vehicles to transfer this information to all personnel and put into the appropriate company communications system.

Qualifications:
Certifications

Registered Professional Geoscientist (P.G) or Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) required. Must have 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER. Additional certifications (i.e., CAPM, REM, CHMM, etc.) a definite plus.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field, or Master’s degree in Science or related field.

Experience

10 -15 years experience (eight years experience if Master’s degree). Must have strong capabilities in Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments per ASTM E 1527-05 and E 1903-91 (reapproved 2002).
